Quiksilver's Jérémy Florès (France) was the day's standout surfer scoring perfect heat score of 20 points for his top two scoring rides – Two perfect ten point rides! Florès defeated local Tahitian surfer Michel Bourez to advance to the quarter finals where he will face Australian Josh Kerr.

The Tahiti event is the Stop No. 5 of 11 on the men's ASP World Title Tour featuring the World's Top 34 surfers plus two wildcards.
The waiting period of the event ends on August 31.
